Every Kotoko player will undergo medicals

Posted on: Thu Jul 26, 2012

Every Kotoko player will undergo medical examination ahead of the 2012/2013 football season. Since last week, some of the newly recruited Kotoko players have been undergoing critical medical examinations.

The latest news from the medical team, headed by Dr. Kwaku Boateng is that every player who has a contract with the club would be medically examined.

In an interview, Dr. Boateng stated the importance of the medical examination saying that it was mandatory. “No player will be left out. All the players will undergo medicals. When you have baseline medical information, it helps; last year, we recorded less injury because of the medicals and this year, we are leaving nothing to chance” he stated.

Whereas rugged midfielder, Afranie Yeboah had his turn on Wednesday, experienced goalie Isaac Amoako was expected to be examined on Thursday. The medicals are being done in accordance with FIFA standards adopted GFA. They comprise Fitness Test, Electrocardiogram (ECG), Ultrasound, Imaging, Visual & Hearing Assessments and Blood Work.

“With the blood work, we have the lever function test, the kidney function test and the hematological parameters or indicators. Under the lever function test, we do the lipid profile; to check the cholesterol. We also check the players’ height and weight. We find out whether they are underweight, heavyweight, overweight, obese or severely obese. We check all these things and advise them” said the team doctor.
