Management has started reviewing contracts of all the players. Details are not yet released but the Public and Supporters Relations Manager Listowell Yesu Bukarson hinted that management would work in the players’ interest as well as the supreme interest of the club.
He indicated that management would not renege on their commitment to safeguard the wellbeing of the players.
In a related development Glo Premier League Player of the Season, Daniel Nii Adjei, has told Kotoko Express that he is certain of playing for Kotoko next season contrary to speculations that he would be moving to arch rivals Hearts of Oak. Since the curtain was drawn on the season’s league at the end of May, there have been some media reports that the workaholic midfielder was likely to join Hearts Oak from Asante Kotoko.
However, speaking in an interview after commencing discussions with management on his contract, Nii Adjei debunked those media reports. He insisted that he would be donning the red jersey once again, going into his seventh season. As to how long Nii Adjei would sign for Kotoko is however not known but the firm assurance is that Kotoko supporters would see him in the Porcupine setup in the 2012/2013 season.
Nii Adjei said he would be there to defend the league title and also participate in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League. “I am not joining Hearts of Oak. Negotiations relating to my contract with Kumasi Asante Kotoko have already started. Those reports are not true. I am certain that I would play for Kotoko next season” said Nii Adjei.
The player confirmed the Public and Supporters Relations Manager, Listowell Yesu Bukarson’s disclosure to Kotoko Express about management’s determination to re-engage him.
We have met Daniel Nii Adjei and discussed his future with us. He has pledged his commitment to play for us next season. We still have other players’ contract to look at. In the end, we would want the best for the players and the best for the club” said Listowell.
