Douglas Owusu Ansah made his Kotoko debut against Buffles FC du Borgou on Thursday, and it didn't take him long to show why Coach Steven Polack promoted him from the Youth Team and added him to the Africa list.
The teenage midfielder entered the international friendly game in the 52nd minute and his first involvement was an eye-catching control of the ball in the midst of two markers within Buffles' final third which was followed by an accurate pass to Yakubu Mohammed inside the penalty box through two opposing players.
Moments later and the lad had withdrawn deep to win the ball from a bulky opponent to combined beautifully with substitutes Seth Opare, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi and Yakubu Mohammed to switched defence to attack.
Owusu Ansah outfought his markers for the ball, switched play beautifully with accurate long passes and through balls and seldom lost possession or gave a faulty pass.
After the game, he told that he thought he played "well" as Steven Polack corroborated the assessment by telling reporters the former "is a very good player".
"I think I did well", said Owusu Ansah. "You know it when things go well. It didn't come easy. I have worked so hard for this day and I am grateful to God that He made it a success. I also thank the coach for his confidence in me and my colleagues for their support. I hope for more and better things to come".
Steven Polack said: "I know how good he is. Its my profession to know who good players are and so if tell this is a good player then he is a good player. I can imagine people asking why he didn't play before now? You have got to bring him in slowly. He did very well today but that doesn't surprise me because I know he is a good player".
