Kotoko suffer first defeat in second round

Abdul Hadick Hudu’s 30th minute goal for Inter Allies at the El Wak Stadium on Wednesday dented the fine run Kotoko have had under coach Steven Polack in the second round of the 2016/17 Premier League.

The Porcupines stormed the military stadium on match day 22, hopeful of continuing their good run. However, their hopes were dashed despite their hard effort. Hadick Hudu was deep inside the goal area when the action preceding the goal, initiated from the right of attack, and from a clearly offside position, fetched him the ball, which he brilliantly fired into the midsection of the net for the only goal of the match.

Kotoko fought relentlessly but couldn’t break the resolve of the Tema side. With a minute to end the first half, disappointing Referee Prince Amoah, sent off Evans Quao and Isaac Osae for a nasty bust up between the two players.

A moment of madness ensued seconds when the red carded Isaac Osae, while walking off the pitch, provocatively attempted to attack the Kotoko bench, unashamedly with his coach, Prince Owusu backing him. After the interval, Kotoko pushed hard for the equaliser but as good as they tried, Inter Allies remained resolute to end the game as the victors. The result pushes Kotoko down the league table from 3rd to 4th with 35 points.

More match details will follow soon.
