And so it comes down to this: the big one! Exactly as millions of Kotoko fans all over the world would have hoped for at the season's start -- Asante Kotoko in the final of the 2017 MTN FA Cup final and against sworn rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak.
For Asante Kotoko, there is at least one more game to test their endurance -- and, for quite a few reasons, it is the biggest game of the season for the Porcupines.
Ordinarily, this fixture should have been the perfect climax to a great domestic run for the Reds, but it hasn't proven so due to one challenge or the other encountered en route.
With his team set with little for injury worries, Coach Steve Polack has his work cut out knowing exactly what to expect from his opponents having played Hearts four times already this season in both competitive and non-competitive games.
Kotoko may have beaten Medeama SC in the semifinals to claim a spot in the final, but Hearts will surely provide a far sterner test than Medeama offered in the semifinals -- a fact Polack is well aware of.
“I am here with my staff to innovate and motivate the players for the game on Sunday,” Polack told the press ahead of the contest, emphasizing his belief that “we will do that especially with the supporters that we also have.”
Kickoff has been adjusted to 1500 GMT -- two hours earlier than had been hitherto advertised -- in obeisance to an existing ruling that bars the two teams from playing a football game under floodlights, leaving Kotoko to figure out just how to expend energy on the field of play sensibly enough to avoid being adversely affected by the less-than-ideal climate in Ghana's northernmost parts.
Coach Polack will keep his cards close to his chest in his quest to deploy his tinkering skills on the touchline.
Don't miss it -- this is, after all, the #Unmissable!
