Coach Polack in the stands.

Medical team to decide Coach Polack’s fate

Posted on: Sat Aug 05, 2017 - Report by Gideon Boakye Botwe

Coach Steven Polack will have his Porcupine Warriors take to the pitch on Sunday for their first competitive game after the July 12 fatal accident, and the British says he could be on the bench. Polack said at a press conference earlier this week that, he may personally lead his charges in the epic game and also be on the bench to direct affairs.

But that decision, he clarified, would be made after discussions with the Medical Team. “I’ve been working with the Medical Team on my personal health every day. So, we will know at the end of the week if I will be on the bench or not.

“We just have to wait and see. After talking to the medical staff and the doctor, let’s see if I will be on the bench. If I’m not on the bench on Sunday, we still have good people on the bench who I can be giving them advice if I’m in the stands or if I’m home” said Polack.

The Englishman suffered a knee injury in the ill-fated incident on July 12 as when the team's bus rammed into a stationary truck at Nkawkaw on their way from Accra to Kumasi after a Premier League match against Inter Allies at the El Wak Stadium.

Polack, who led Kotoko to beat Hearts in the 2017 President Cup, successfully had a knee surgery a day after the incident. His right knee has been bandaged. He also puts on a knee brace to support that part of the body besides aiding the healing process. Would he be on the bench on Sunday? Time will tell. You must be at the stadium to see for yourself.
