Editor’s take: Give us the best in Super Clash

Posted on: Sat Mar 18, 2017 - Report by News Desk

It’s that time of the season when media outlets – radio, television, online and newspaper – spend hours discussing the biggest football match in Ghana. It is Hearts vs Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium – the first in 2017 and from all indications, Sunday’s game will be thrilling.

We anticipate a lot of tense moments, suspense, anxiety and anxiousness on the part of fans plus all the other things that make the Super Clash exciting. For us at, our primary expectation will be a Kotoko victory and with that, we are by no means arguing that, the Hearts of Oak team will be mincemeat or that, the Porcupines will walk-over the Oak Tree.

We know Hearts will offer Kotoko the sort of opposition that surely bring the best out of Coach Zdravko Logarusic. We urge the Porcupines to stretch the Phobians and triumph but they should do away with over-confidence since it’s that which can derail any good ambition.

Any way we look at the performance of the two teams this season, Kotoko are faring better than Hearts. Ours isn’t to explain that at the moment.’s major preoccupation now is to encourage the team to keep their focus, pick the three points and celebrate.

We urge Coach Zdravko Logarusic to keep to any tactics that will ensure victory while admonishing the players to work hard and patiently take their chances. We expect security arrangements, officiating and everything connected or related to the game to be handled well.

It’s the country’s biggest game. We can’t expect less. The Super Clash is here. We have to be in Accra confident of victory and hopefully return to Kumasi as the victorious side.
