Report: Kotoko wave WAFA off in midweek

Posted on: Wed Mar 15, 2017 - Report by Bernard Nyankomago Yeboah

Substitute, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi’s 62nd minute decent header from an excellent Eric Donkor cross on the left flank, provided Kotoko a deserved 1-0 win over WAFA in their match day seven, 2016/17 Premier League fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

The Porcupines kept good pressure on the academy lads and could have ended the first half in front but a series of misses ensured that, the first 45 minutes ended with no goal scored.

Back from the break, Coach Zdravko Logarusic among other impressive substitutions, replaced Abeiku Ainooson with Sarfo Gyamfi, who sent smiles on the faces of the home crowd nearly 15 minutes after coming on.

The victory keeps Kotoko at second position with 17 points – the same as that of Aduana Stars, who drew goalless with Medeama at home. Aduana Stars lead the table on a goal difference. Kotoko’s next game is away to Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

Full match report follows soon.
